A missionary is someone who sacrifices everything, but the Gospel, for the sake of the Gospel!

  1. A christian is someone who lives for Christ and sacrifices everything, but the Gospel, for the sake of the Gospel!
    This definition is the definition of all Christians, Disciples or Christ Followers. Of course, it is applicable to a missionary too. However, this is not a great definition of what a missionary is. A missionary is someone who is sent by God apostolically to preach the Gospel, Make Disciples and Start new churches wherever God sends them. This often includes going to other nations and cultures to do this. The Greek word for Apostle is the equivalent of the Latin word Missionary. In a sense, we are all apostles in that we are all sent to our world. In the same sense, we are all missionaries. However, it needs to be noted that we do not all have the office of apostle (missionary) that Paul speaks of in Ephesians 4.
