Session 1:  Expectations and Realism

What happens when you enter ministry or start a church with high expectations, hopes and dreams and quickly realize that your expectations are not your reality to your calling?  How do you cope, thrive, and stay faithful?  During this session, you’ll engage with common expectations while honestly exploring the realities of ministry.  Jesus is enough wherever you are.  He’s able to give you that grace to not simply survive, but also to thrive.  Join us as we candidly grow together.

Session 2 & 3:  Resiliency

How do you enter ministry and thrive over the long haul?  What are the keys to persevering to the end?  When men around you are resigning, quitting, and being forcibly removed from ministry, how can you by God’s grace endure while remaining faithful and fruitful?  During this session, you will learn the results of a research study on resilience conducted for pastors.  You’ll receive wisdom and insight to help you on your journey.  Join us as we learn to develop resilience.

Session 4:  Self-care

How do you care well for yourself and avoid burnout?  How do you learn to lead while caring and stewarding your relationships, minds, emotions, and bodies?  As the weight of leadership grows, how do you avoid it from collapsing on and crushing you?  During this session, you will discover a holistic approach to stewarding and caring well for our entire beings as image bearers.  You’ll broaden your understanding of self-care and engage resources that will assist you in a life-time of leadership and ministry.  Join us as we learn to care well for ourselves.

Session 5:  Growing a Multi-ethnic Worldview

How do you engage the conversation about the multi-ethnic church?  Why is this topic critical for understanding a diverse world in the twenty-first century?  What thoughts and resources can help you to develop a strategy for being more than a spectator of the multi-ethnic movement?  During this session, we’ll have a candid discussion about the state of the church and pathways to playing our role in pushing the needle forward on this matter.  You’ll discover truth, facts, and realities, while uncovering your own personal biases, blind spots and barriers for change.  Join us as we grow in understanding our one humanity in Christ.

Session 6:  Biblical Counseling

Do I have to be a trained counselor in order to help people around me?  How do I engage people who are hurting without formal training?  Can I make a difference in people’s lives?  During this session, you’ll learn a theology of counseling and a methodology to practically assist people around you who are in need.  As you know, our world is broken and in need of Christ.  This session will enable you to care like Christ.  Join us as we learn to care for others.

About Dr. Dwayne R. Bond, Ph.D.

Dr. Bond is a pastor, counselor, coach, professor, and businessman.  In addition to leading the Proximus Group, Dwayne serves as the Lead Pastor/Founding Pastor of Wellspring Church in Charlotte, NC.  He graduated from Liberty University with a Ph.D. in Professional Counseling, Capital Bible Seminary with an M.A. in Christian Counseling and Discipleship, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Religion, and University of Maryland with a B.S. in Finance.

In addition to obtaining earned degrees, Dwayne has over seventeen years of counseling experience, (including over 3,300 hours of face-to-face counseling), eleven years as a professor in academia, fourteen years in the pastorate, twenty-four years of ministry experience and ten years of corporate business experience. He serves on the Council Board of the Biblical Counseling Coalition, the Executive Board and the Southeast Region Executive Team in the Acts 29 Church Planting Network.  Dwayne is poised to assist individuals, families, pastors, business leaders, organizations and churches.  He is a gifted counselor and an effective and proven leader who understands people and is equipped to assist them through whatever ails them.  He is passionate about offering hope and healing through Christ for those who are hurting.
